The lovely people from Innis & Gunn got in touch in April to see if we would be interested in collaborating with them in an epic taste off between them, Auchentoshan whisky and us (the minnows of the group!). We didn’t have to think about it for too long – of course, we would love to work with these amazing Scottish companies!
So a series of three ‘Tasty Tuesday’s’ events were created for this three-way taste sensation showdown. Tickets included:
After each round of tasting, participants scored each product out of 10. The winner of each round, and the overall winner would be calculated at the end of the evening.
Now, we think our chocolate is pretty good, but being such a new player, we didn’t think we stood a chance against the giants of Innis & Gunn and Auchentoshan. We simply thought it was awesome that Innis & Gunn, such a great Scottish brand, had asked us to join in.
So the first battle took place in Edinburgh, May 15th. A great night was had by all, although a little too much whisky was consumed by a certain chocolate maker, who shall remain unnamed. It was a closely fought battle, so you could have knocked us over with a feather when it was announced that Rebel Chocolate was the overall winner!!! We were buzzing!
The second taste off was in Dundee, May 22nd. We arrived hopeful, but also realistic, for what the evening may bring. Was the first round just a fluke? Beginners luck? But no – lo and behold, Rebel Chocolate took out the second round too!!!
Only one question remained….. the final showdown in Glasgow, May 29th. Could Rebel Chocolate make it a hat-trick in their hometown in this David-and-Goliath battle? Well, it was another closely fought battle, but alas, it wasn’t to be as we came in a close second behind Auchentoshan. Two out of three ain’t bad though, thats for sure!
We can’t wait for the next battle – will you be there fighting our corner?2018-05-31T11:27:59+00:00 2018-05-31T14:20:09+00:00
